Good Digestion for Good Health!

Unfamiliar food, beverages, or an unfamiliar environment… nothing throws our digestion off track faster! What can we do about it? ? Here are some secret tips and home recipes that will make you feel normal again:

1. Dietary Fiber is Food for the Gut:
Dietary fiber from cereals and vegetables are very important to keep your digestive system running smoothly.? The positive side effect of dietary fiber is that it binds the intestinal cholesterol, so that it can be excreted more, and as the result, less of it will be stored in the body. Try different whole grain breads, cereals, and especially lots of vegetables in different colors.

2. Speaking of Fiber:
When eating a lot of fiber,? you have to be extra careful that you drink lots of liquids!? With a high intake of dietary fiber, and not drinking enough water, you will risk constipation.? This also applies when eating dried fruits or flax seeds, the more fiber, the more water is needed!

3. Drink Other Liquids In Addition to Water:
But be sure to get enough water in your diet!? Remember, you need at least 8 to 12 cups of water each day!? You can substitute some of your water needs with juice splashes (with fruit and vegetable juices of your choice, but without added sugar), herbs, fruit, herbal teas such as Rooibos and Lapacho. Herbal teas are particularly good for intestinal complaints such as constipation, bloating and flatulence.

4. Keep the Intestines Going:
Try doing contraction exercises for the abdominal muscles while you also massage your intestines.? Lie on the floor on your back, bend your legs, and put your feet up on the floor, place your hands on your abdomen. Massage your abdomen as you come up slowly with your upper back, forward and up, and hold your head up (not just your eyes).? Do it in such a way that you can look at the ceiling.? Slowly lower your upper body, but not all the way down, and repeat this exercise as many times as you can.? Do this often for good intestinal health.

5. Pat that Belly!
Massage your abdomen for a few minutes with gentle pressure and with a slightly circular motion from top right to bottom left.? You can also use a nice massage oil with essential oils, like lavender, (that also relaxes you), this way you can do something nice for your senses as well!? Do this regularly to ward off constipation.
